EDB Data Migration

EDB migration is a system where EDB or Exchange Database files are being migrated to PST files when the system creates a problem while accessing the EDB files. Data migration process starts whenever someone adopts a new system may it be through purchase or any other new development. Though data migration process is a pretty time consuming thing but the ease and speed usually depends upon the software type.
 
 

At first we have to know about what is data or migration. Data migration is the process of converting data to a new system either by retaining the same file format or by changing it.  This process can involve entering data manually, converting it from one folder or computer to another, developing the custom software, database insertion queries etc. which method should be taken depends upon the nature of the data. There is another process called data cleansing where a particular data is prepared and modified for migration. Data cleansing prepares data to fit in the new format, like preparing EDB to PST Converter files.

Before migrating or converting data there are some important points which are needed to be checked out. Those are, analyzing the source structure carefully which means the data should be defined meticulously before the migration takes place; the nature of the data, its value should be evaluated with utmost care. Then comes the analysis of the target source; the file or system where the source data will be migrated has to be examined and analyzed thoroughly otherwise there can occur file management error. For example in case of migrating EDB files to PST files at first we have to have a detailed knowledge about PST file format and structure, how it works and to what extent it can support EDB without hampering its content. The third job is field mapping. Mapping and calculating between the source and the target system with the data cleansing process. However this performance is optional, it should be done only if it is needed to be done.

After the above job is done then the process of data importation or data migration has to be defined clearly. That means whether the process will be totally automated or will be running manually or the process will be partly automated and partly manually done that has to be defined first.

The EDB data migration includes the migration of emails, journals, schedules, notes, calendar, different tasks, contacts and many other EDB files. The data migration software makes it an easy task for the user.

There are some other features available along with data migration in these types of software. Those are:

• While converting the EDB files into PST files the software extracts all the mail components preserving their original content. 
• This migration process is usually done in offline mode but some of the newly invented software can do this migration process while staying online. This makes the process even better. 
• Some inaccessible EDB and SMT file can also be migrated to PST through the system. 
• Some software even offer to restore accidentally deleted EDB data and migrate it to PST order without changing or damaging its content.
